In a recent interview on Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Real 92.3, 50 Cent disclosed that Eminem declined an offer to perform with him at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, despite organizers being willing to pay $9 million for the collaboration.
According to the 47-year-old rapper, officials in Qatar aimed to hire the duo following their involvement in the acclaimed Super Bowl halftime show in Los Angeles last year, alongside Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and Anderson .Paak.
50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, revealed, “Because of the Super Bowl, I got an inquiry about World Cup and they had a budget of $9 million. I would’ve taken $1 million and the remaining $8 million would have been for Eminem.”
Despite his efforts to negotiate the appearance with Eminem’s team, 50 Cent expressed his disappointment as they rejected the offer, stating, “They’re like, ‘He’s not gonna do it.'” He added, “If you would do a one-off show, maybe you would do the biggest live sporting event in the world.”
It’s worth noting that the competition held in Qatar sparked a number of controversies, including concerns over the country’s human rights record, discrimination against women and the LGBTQ community, and the deaths of migrant workers involved in building the stadiums where the matches took place.
