The FCTA announced plans to introduce a Bus Rapid Transportation System in Abuja to address transportation issues in the city. During an engagement with stakeholders, Dr Abdulateef Bello, the Director of Road Traffic Services, revealed that the administration will also introduce buses that run on compressed natural gas to improve mass transit in Abuja. He urged stakeholders to support this policy, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on the transportation system in Abuja. Additionally, plans are in place to reclaim the 46 taxi ranks in the territory and reorganize them for licensed operators. According to Bello, standardizing the transportation system in Abuja is essential due to the city’s rapid development. The aim is to provide an organized transportation system that meets the needs of all citizens.
