Charlize Theron has candidly discussed her personal life and revealed why she has never prioritized marriage.
The award-winning American-South African actress, who has never tied the knot, is a mother to two adopted children, Jackson and August.
During an interview on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show, the 44-year-old actress explained her reasons for not wanting to get married, stating, “I’ve never wanted to get married. That’s never been something that’s important to me.”
When Stern suggested the need for love and companionship, Theron countered, emphasizing that her children fulfill that need, saying, “‘I have two great little loves of my life right now. Life is filled with love… I have never been lonely, I have never felt alone.”
Since adopting her eldest child, Jackson, 8, in March 2012, followed by August, 4, in July 2015, Charlize’s busy schedule has made the prospect of marriage seem impractical.
In jest, she mentioned that if she were to open herself up to love, she might need to buy the house next door. She also quipped about her reluctance to fully commit, expressing, “I don’t know if I’m going to be able to f—king deal with that ever again. I’m too old for that s—t.”
Theron also dismissed past rumors of an engagement to her ex-boyfriend Sean Penn, clarifying that they were never close to getting married.
