A new report claims that Andrew Tate, a self-proclaimed right-winger and misogynist, sent a woman text messages in which he expressed disturbing sentiments.
According to the report, despite supplying the messages to the police in the U.K., they declined to prosecute him in 2019 for the voice notes and other allegations from a second woman.
These revelations came to light on Wednesday, January 11, while Tate and his brother are detained in Romania as part of an investigation into their alleged involvement in a human trafficking ring.
“Am I a bad person? Because the more you didn’t like it, the more I enjoyed it,” Tate allegedly said in a WhatsApp voice note reviewed by VICE World News.
“I f—ing loved how much you hated it. It turned me on. Why am I like that? Why?”
These are just a few of the numerous text and voice messages that a woman, using the pseudonym Amelia, provided to VICE.
According to Amelia, Tate assaulted her in 2013, by strangling and forcing himself on her, just a couple of weeks into their dating. She continued to see him in the following months, reportedly out of fear of the 6-foot tall kickboxer and denial about the alleged assault.
In another message, after the alleged assault, Tate stated, “I love raping you,” as per VICE’s report.
About six months after the alleged assault, Amelia filed a police report. In 2015, she and another woman made similar accusations. Although Tate was arrested, British police decided not to prosecute, VICE reported.
The brothers’ unsuccessful appeal in a Romanian court led to an extension of their detention for 30 days. There are now considerations for a 180-day detention and the arrest of two women as accomplices. Additionally, authorities have seized luxury cars and properties as part of the investigation, and on Wednesday, Tate lost an appeal related to this as well.
