The response of Pastor Chibuzor of OPM to the shocking interview with the late Deborah Samuel’s family has been published by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ).
During FIJ’s visit to Deborah’s family, they openly discussed their current situation.
Deborah’s parents contradicted Apostle Chibuzor’s statements by claiming that they were not provided with a free flat and that their landlord had asked them to either make an immediate payment or vacate the property.
Furthermore, the late Deborah’s father revealed that he was given a used car, which he used for taxi services until it broke down.
Subsequently, the media outlet disclosed that the cleric publicly addressed Deborah’s father in the church during a previous sermon to express his displeasure.
According to FIJ, the pastor questioned who had arranged for an interpreter, knowing that the family only spoke Hausa.
A source informed FIJ, stating, “The interview we gave has caused serious problems at OPM. Yesterday (Sunday, June 18), he (Chinyere) called him outside inside the congregation and said that he heard everything. ‘Who interpreted it? Who interpreted that interview?’ He asked him. He (Garba) didn’t know the person, so he told him that he didn’t know the person. It seemed you brought the interpreter from your company, he told OPM.”
The source also revealed that the pastor relocated the family to the mini estate provided by the church, in addition to purchasing three bags of rice for them and giving them N20,000 in cash.
“The pastor has now bought three bags of rice for us and handed us N20,000. Chinyere told Deborah’s family to leave their current abode and ordered that they move to the mini estate the church gave them,” the source said.
As per reports, Deborah’s family responded by stating that they did not intend to tarnish the pastor’s reputation and are grateful for his kind gestures but could not lie about their current living conditions.
