Since the start of the series in 2014, Ami has played an important role in it with his entire family. In 2017, it was revealed that the actress had been diagnosed with cancer. Biography of Ami Brown
Even though we all knew the actress as Ami Brown, it was actually as Amora Larene Branson Brown that she was born on August 28, 1963 in the United States in Texas. As one could easily guess, it was in Alaska that she was raised by her parents – Eugene Branson and Earlene Branson. She has an older brother she grew up with, Les Branson.
Although not much is known about her personal life and how she was raised, she came to public attention in 2014 when she became a member of the Discovery Channel series People of Alaska Bush where she played the role of the mother of the family. In the series which is now in its eighth season, Ami appears alongside her husband, Billy Bryan Brown and their 7 children, Matthew, Bam Bam, Solomon, Gabriel, Noah, Amora and Merry Christmas.
Looking at her personal life, Ami met Billy when she was only 15 years old and since then they have been together although before the actress, Billy was married once but the union did not last long.
In a Facebook post by her brother, Les claimed Ami has been a prisoner of a domestic abuser (Billy) for many years and this has led to her isolation from her own family. According to him, she has also refused contact with her mother because she is afraid it will bother Billy. Until 2016, when her mother tried to contact her, Radar Online revealed that Ami and Billy had ignored all of her mother’s efforts to talk to them since Ami got married when she was 15.

In 2017 while filming promo shots for AlaskaBush People, Ami Brown started having issues with her back and it became quite difficult for her to move around. Although the first thing that came to mind was that she had arthritis, it was actually found to be stage 3 lung cancer.
According to her doctor’s final analysis, she only had a 3 percent chance of survival. To seize this opportunity, the family moved to Southern California where Ami continued her treatment. As she continued the battle, Ami reduced her previous 128 pounds to 89 pounds. After undergoing a few rounds of chemotherapy at UCLA Medical Center, she received good news from her doctor who revealed that the lump had been removed from her lungs.
Cancer Update, Is She Dead?
For someone with stage 3 cancer who had only been given a three percent chance of survival, many had already considered it a likely tipping point for Ami Brown. Interestingly, she beat all the odds and she’s still very much alive. Not only that, she’s mostly cancer-free, although she’ll still need to get screened once every few months to make sure the lump doesn’t come back.
As recently revealed, her cancer is not completely gone, but she is doing so much better than she was when she was first diagnosed. The hope of family and fans now is that she will return completely cancer-free.
