BIOGRAPHY
Ariane Labed was born in Athens and spent her childhood between France and Germany. Her parents being actors, young Ariane lives in an artistic environment but dreams of only one thing: becoming a dancer. She therefore practiced classical dance for 10 years at the Conservatoire des ballets du Rhin Mulhouse. She then joined the University of Provence where she studied production professions.

It was at the FAC that she began acting in theater and co-founded her company, Vasistas. These experiences on stage with the troupe allowed him to play for the Greek national theater. It is in this country that she shot the film Attenberg in 2010 under the direction of Athina Rachel Tsangari . This role is very physical; the young Ariane playing a lonely woman introduced to sex by her best friend. Her performance was very noted and earned her the Volpi Cup for best female performance at the 2010 Venice Film Festival.

The actress met the filmmaker and actor Yorgos Lanthimos on the set of Attenberg and the two artists fell in love. The latter offers him a role in his next film, Alps , the story of a secret society which offers its strange services when a loved one dies. Ariane plays a gymnast, another very physical role.

The actress has made a name for herself and seeks the services of an agent in Paris. She films alongside Benoît Poelvoorde A Place on Earth by Fabienne Godet before returning to Greece to star alongside Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in Before Midnight .

Her talent exploded further in 2014 with her role in Fidelio, Alice’s Odyssey . In this film, Ariane uses her mysterious beauty to make men fall under her poisonous charm. Her performance earned her a César nomination as Best New Actor and she won the Best Actress Award at the Locarno Film Festival.

In 2015, the actress toured again under the direction of her husband, Yorgos Lanthimos, in The Lobster . The film presented in Competition at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival has the merit of originality. Indeed, in the near future, single people are forced to find love in 45 days or risk being transformed into an animal of their choice. Ariane plays alongside Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz .

Favoring dramas, Ariane Labed plays in Préjudice , Despite the Night , View of the Country , Marie Madeleine , The Souvenir Part I and II and Before the Collapse .
