Police announce arrest in killing of Takeoff

Following the shooting of rapper Takeoff, a 33-year-old man has been arrested on a murder charge.

Patrick Xavier Clark was peacefully taken into custody on Thursday night, Dec. 1, as confirmed by Houston Police Chief Troy Finner.

Clark’s arrest came the day after another man was charged in connection with the Nov. 1 shooting, which authorities said stemmed from a dispute over a dice game and resulted in injuries to two other individuals.

Takeoff, deemed an “innocent bystander,” was struck by gunfire outside a Houston bowling alley on Nov. 1.

As of Friday, Dec. 2, Clark is being held in jail awaiting a bond hearing.

During a Friday news conference, Police Sgt. Michael Burrow stated that the gunfire followed a disagreement over a “lucrative” game of dice, clarifying that Takeoff was not involved and was merely an innocent bystander.

According to Burrow, every individual present at the scene left without engaging with the police. However, some of them have since been located by the authorities, who have utilized ballistics, video, and audio recordings to piece together events.

Investigators are still working on locating witnesses, with Burrow asserting, “We will be looking to find you. It will be easier if you come find us.”

On Wednesday, Nov. 30, Cameron Joshua was arrested in connection to the shooting. Joshua faced charges of illegally possessing a gun at the time of the shooting, but prosecutors believe he did not fire the weapon.

Christopher Downey, Joshua’s attorney, expressed that he has not seen any evidence linking his client to Takeoff’s killing.

Burrow noted that investigators believe it was Clark’s gunfire that resulted in the rapper’s death.
