BIOGRAPHY
Robert Cannavale was born on May 3, 1970, in New Jersey, United States. Born to an Italian father and a Cuban mother, Bobby grew up in Coconut Creek, Florida, where he attended St. Michael’s Catholic School. Being part of the student choir, Bobby participated in several school theater projects, with which he acquired a taste for acting. When he was 13, his parents divorced and Bobby went to live with his mother in Puerto Rico, although he returned to the United States two years later.
After graduating from Union Hill High School, Cannavale moved back to New Jersey and began looking for auditions, while working in bars to support himself. He was a reader for the Naked Angels theater company, before making his debut as an actor in cinema, with the film Night Falls on Manhattan (1997), later he had brief participations in films such as The Bone Collector (1999) and 3 AM (2001). . The role that made him known as a character actor and began to consolidate his career was that of Bobby Caffney, in the television series Third Watch .
He later participated in the final season of the series Ally McBeal and in the miniseries Kingpin . In 2005, Bobby won an Emmy Award for his participation in the series Will & Grace. His work in cinemas began to expand, where he participated in films such as Snake are a Plane (2002), Shall We Dance? (2004) and The Night Listener (2006), in addition to continuing with a consolidated television career, appearing in the series Sex & the City, Six Feet Under, Oz, Law & Order, Modern Family and Broadwalk Empire , where the actor returned to win an Emmy for best supporting actor.
