The Borno State experienced a ruthless attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in military attire, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals and the abduction of one person in Gatamarwa and Tsiha communities. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso Kenneth, confirmed the tragic incident and reported the recovery of 12 corpses, as well as injuries to two individuals. The assailants, armed with AK-47 rifles, motorcycles, and Hilux vans, indiscriminately fired at mourners returning from Gatamarwa and later targeted the Tsiha community, where they killed three people and kidnapped a young woman. These appalling acts of violence serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by Boko Haram. It’s crucial for authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure the perpetrators face justice. This incident adds to the grim toll of previous Boko Haram attacks, such as the killing of 10 farmers and the abduction of several others in the Mafa Local Government Area in September 2023. The insurgents’ brutal actions have instilled fear and devastation, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect innocent civilians.
