Revealing his thoughts on the 2022 Oscars altercation, Chris Rock discussed the incident during a recent appearance at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. He conveyed his efforts to move past the incident and drew a comparison between Will Smith and the incarcerated hip-hop mogul Suge Knight.
Prior to this, the King Richard star had issued an apology for his actions through a video posted on his Instagram account.
In a statement to CNN, Rock criticized the notion of victimhood, stating that it impedes the recognition of genuine victims. He depicted the experience of being slapped by Smith as akin to dealing with Suge Knight and emphasized the need to process it swiftly, noting his professional commitments and responsibilities as a father.
Rock also humorously remarked that those who claim words hurt have never experienced physical altercation.
On Friday, July 29, Will Smith shared an apology video for Chris Rock. He apologized to Rock as he addresses why he didn’t apologize during his acceptance speech for best actor.
He also extended his apologies to Rock’s mother, Rose Rock, and brother Tony Rock for his behavior.
