BIOGRAPHY
Diana Bovio is originally from Monterrey, Nuevo León. She always had in mind that she wanted to be an actress, however, she finished her degree in graphic design so that, later, her parents would let her follow her dream. Despite staying busy with her design career, Diana always found time for theater. Her first opportunity in film came with From Prada to Nada (2011), a co-production between Mexico and the United States. Diana got a small role in the film after finding an advertisement in the Monterrey newspaper in which the production was looking for extras: “when I arrived and they saw my resume, they asked me why I was an extra if I was an actress.” As a result, Diana participated in the film within a scene with Kuno Becker and Alexa Vega. At the end of filming, she decided to try her luck in Mexico City, which she has described as one of the biggest challenges on a professional and personal level. Once in the city, Diana attended many castings, one of them being the defunct Saturday Night Live Mexico project . Regarding this experience, the actress has stated that it connected her with very important figures in the industry, who today have become good friends, among them Mariana Treviño and Santiago Limón, director of Cindy la Regia (2019) and Hasta que la wedding nos sepera (Until the wedding separates us ( 2018), whom Diana considers one of the best directors that Mexico has. Subsequently, Diana worked in short films until in 2016 she got her first leading role in film with The Possession of Altair (2016), a film independent horror film that was widely accepted by specialized critics and won several awards in the international festival circuit, including Sitges. The film also earned Diana a nomination for Best Actress for a Canacine Award and Best Actress in an Ibero-American Film at the Fantaspoa International Film Festival. However, the projects that were watersheds in the Mexican’s career are Until the Wedding Separates Us (2018) and Mirreyes Contra Godínez (2019). The first was seen by almost 2 million people and the second was crowned one of the highest-grossing films of 2019 in Mexico; Both opened the doors of the industry and gave visibility to her career, which led her to star in the series Los sins de Bárbara., where he will share credits with Regina Blandón, Blanca Guerra and Ana Martin.
