Lee Felix, a prominent figure in the K-pop industry, faced challenges with unsupportive parents while pursuing his dreams. Growing up in a conventional Asian household, he defied his parents’ wishes to become a successful K-pop artist. Lee Yong-Bok, known as ‘Lee Felix,’ is a multifaceted member of the popular Korean boy band ‘Stray Kids.’ Although born in Korea, he spent his formative years in Australia, where he completed high school. With aspirations of entering the K-pop scene, he eventually returned to Korea and kickstarted his career by participating in the TV program ‘Stray Kids,’ produced by ‘JYP Entertainment.’
Following the success of the program, the band released their debut track ‘Hellevator’ in 2017, marking the beginning of their journey. Their official debut took place in March 2018, accompanied by the release of multiple song sets, individual tracks, and music videos. Lee Felix and his group received the New Hallyu Rookie Award at the Soribada Best K-Music Awards in 2018.

Lee Felix grew up in a typical Asian family setting, where his parents, Mr. Lee and Mrs. Lina, resided in Sydney, Australia. Striving to uphold their Korean heritage despite their relocation, his father, Mr. Lee, encouraged him to pursue taekwondo, while his mother, Mrs. Lina, pushed him to excel in piano playing. Though his parents had different aspirations for him, it was the musical influence that ultimately ignited his passion.
Uneasy with the rigid expectations imposed by his parents, Lee Felix persevered, excelling in taekwondo while nurturing his love for music. However, the decision to pursue a career in K-pop sparked resistance from his devout Christian parents, who held strong objections due to their beliefs.

Lee Felix revealed the difficulties encountered when pursuing his career, candidly expressing his struggle to garner support from his parents. Despite his efforts to convince them, his parents remained apprehensive, concerned about the negative aspects associated with K-pop stardom.
“I would show them my work and they would never respond. It was difficult to persuade my parents that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life,”
While acknowledging the disapproval from his parents, Lee Felix also conveyed a sense of liberation from conforming to their expectations, which conflicted with his desire to pursue a career in K-pop. Amid his rise to fame, false speculations about his personal life, including his sexuality, circulated in the media, causing distress to his family. Despite the challenges, his sister, Rachel, defended his right to privacy and career, emphasizing their significance above false rumors.
