EA PGA Tour Update 1.000.017 Patch Notes
EA Sports PGA Tour
The PGA Tour is a long-running series of golf video games made by Electronic Arts (EA). It started back in 1990 and mostly features courses from the U.S. PGA Tour and famous courses hosting major tournaments.

They released a new game each year. While most games were made by EA Sports, some were developed by other companies, like the first one, Tiger Woods 99 PGA Tour Golf.
These games brought new things to golf video games, like the three-click swing method, now commonly used. Back in 1995, a critic in GamePro said the PGA series stood out because players had complete control over their shots and got to play on top-notch courses. Despite this, it often competed with other golf games like the Jack Nicklaus series, Links series, Microsoft Golf, and The Golf Pro.
EA's partnership with Tiger Woods in the games earned nearly $771 million between 1999 and 2013. But in 2013, EA ended their deal with Woods and replaced him with Rory McIlroy, another top golfer. The game called Rory McIlroy PGA Tour came out in 2015, featuring McIlroy as the new face of the franchise.

The new game brings in some fresh stuff like the "Pure Strike" gameplay, which handles different parts of hitting a golf ball. It also connects with ShotLink, a tool used by the PGA Tour for stats, along with TrackMan. Players can step into the shoes of real tour pros like Cameron Champ, Tony Finau, and others such as Nelly Korda and Jordan Spieth.

EA Sports PGA Tour Development
The new EA Sports PGA Tour game was first talked about in March 2021. Just like the game before it, this one also uses the Frostbite engine.
At first, it was supposed to come out early in 2022, around the same time as the 2022 Masters Tournament. But for reasons they didn't tell us about, the release got delayed a few times. Finally, it hit the shelves on April 7, 2023. That was the same day as the second round of the Masters tournament for that year, a change from the original date of March 24.
