Ellen Wong was born on January 13, 1985. Her parents are both Chinese Cambodians, but they fled to Canada to escape the Cambodian genocide.

She was born and raised in Scarborough, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Ellen attended high school at L’Amoreaux Collegiate Institute. She started performing in community theater in her early teens and she also appeared in several TV productions growing up.
