Kenneth Eric Church was born on May 3, 1977 to Rita and Ken Church in Granite Falls, North Carolina. When Eric was only thirteen, he bought himself a guitar and started writing songs. By the time he became a high school student, he already had a regular gig, performing at a local bar. He performed some of his original songs as well as several covers of Jimmy Buffets songs. Some of the places he played were a bit rough and he often fought from the stage.
