Abia State Police Command has taken two individuals purporting to be personnel of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and three others into custody for alleged conspiracy, armed robbery, and impersonation.

The suspects, James Prince Victor (39 years old) of Ohuhu Umuahia North, who claimed to be an EFCC personnel, Chidozie Onwuzuruike (40 years old), Onyedikachi Ihechukwumere (25 years old), Onwuka Christopher (26 years old), and Tochukwu Obinna (30 years old) are all in custody.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, stated that the arrests were made based on credible intelligence. It was reported that a gang dressed in EFCC uniforms had robbed and forced students to transfer money at gunpoint at Enyioma Christ Lodge Umudike. Upon receiving this information, officers from Central Police Station, Umuahia, investigated and arrested three men from the Man O’ War base at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike.

The police also recovered stolen phones and a tricycle used in the criminal act. Subsequently, James Prince Victor and Chidozie Onwuzuruike were arrested, and items such as jackets with EFCC inscription, EFCC ID Cards, a stolen phone, a toy gun, and EFCC search warrants were confiscated from them.

An ongoing investigation into the matter is being conducted, and the public is urged to report any suspicious activities to the police promptly.
