Former Premier League star, Nolberto Solano has been taken into custody for reportedly attending a gathering during the self-isolation lockdown in Peru.
The retired 45-year-old Peruvian professional, who played for Newcastle United, was allegedly found at a party in the Peruvian district of La Molina, breaching the social isolation rules imposed in the region.
Peruvian outlet Libero reported that the police arrested Solano and five others during a raid at a property in La Molina on Thursday.
The former midfielder, who had two tenures at Newcastle during his 19-year career, was taken to a local police station for questioning and was later released by the authorities.
In his statement to the media, he said, “It was a meeting, not a party; look at how I’m dressed. Everyone complains.”
Peru is currently under lockdown to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus, with 580 reported cases and nine deaths from the disease.
