Former Manchester United star, Gary Neville, has lauded Kalvin Phillips’ transfer from Manchester City to West Ham United as a positive decision.

Phillips is all set to join West Ham on loan after Man City and the Hammers recently finalized a deal, which includes a buy option.

During an interview with Sky Sports, Neville commented, “He needs to play football, that is for sure. We remember he was a major England player, someone who I think we thought would do well at Manchester City. You normally think that City don’t make mistakes in the transfer market. It’s just not worked out for him there. Obviously, they have got fantastic options in midfield.”

“But West Ham losing Declan Rice, I think it’s a good move for West Ham. It’s a good move for Kalvin Phillips. I hope he can stay fit and get a lot of football before the Euros in the summer,” Neville added.

Phillips joined Man City from Leeds United a few years ago and has struggled to secure a regular spot under manager Pep Guardiola.
