Former Barcelona player Gerard Pique has announced his decision to make a comeback to football, this time as a coach. The ex-Spain international, who was part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup winning team, revealed his plans through a tweet from his official handle on Tuesday.

After giving it careful consideration, Pique stated, “I have decided to return to football. I miss it a lot. This time it won’t be as a player. It will be as a coach. I’ll share more details at the end of the week.”

The 36-year-old retired from professional football in January 2023. Pique’s illustrious career includes victories at the 2010 World Cup, the 2012 European Championship, and the U-19 European Championship in his early career.

During his time at FC Barcelona, Pique achieved success alongside football icons like Lionel Messi, Daniel Alves, Carles Puyol, and current Barcelona coach Xavi. He made 616 appearances for Barcelona, winning La Liga nine times, the Copa del Rey seven times, the FIFA Club World Cup three times, and the UEFA Champions League three times, including once with Manchester United in 2008.

While with Manchester United, Pique also secured victories in the Premier League and the League Cup.
