In a recent announcement, global technology company Google has appointed Nigerian-born Alex Okosi as its Managing Director for the African region.

Meir Brand, the Vice President of EMEA Emerging Markets at Google, revealed this news.

Prior to this role, Okosi served as the Managing Director for YouTube in EMEA Emerging Markets.

In his new position, Okosi will be responsible for overseeing Google’s operations in Africa. This includes implementing programs to support business and economic growth, expanding access to the internet, and providing tools to enhance the online experience for the next billion users.

Brand expressed his confidence in Okosi, stating, “Alex is a proven leader with extensive experience in the media and technology industries. He possesses a deep understanding of African countries and is passionate about utilizing technology to empower individuals and businesses.”

Okosi is an accomplished leader in the fields of media, entertainment, and technology.

Prior to joining YouTube, he held the role of Executive Vice President and Managing Director at Viacom International Media Networks Africa and BET International. During his tenure at YouTube, Okosi played a crucial role in driving the platform’s growth and expansion across Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey.
