An arrest has been made in connection with the discovery of a three-year-old girl’s body in a rubbish bin outside a home. The 60-year-old grandmother, Becky Ann Vreeland, has been charged with first-degree murder and child neglect. She is currently being held at Cleveland County Jail in Oklahoma, USA.
Upon receiving a 911 call from inside the house, police arrived at the woman’s residence in Oklahoma City, where two other children were also present.
It was at this location that the body of 3-year-old Riley Nolan was found in a rubbish bin.
The circumstances of the child’s death have not been clarified. Master Sergeant Gary Knight informed reporters that “Officers found clear signs of trauma to the child’s body. The child had been dead for a period of time at least. It hadn’t just happened.”
Vreeland, who had been responsible for the little girl’s care, was questioned by the police prior to her arrest.
The girl’s death has shocked neighbors, who described the “hardworking” grandmother as often playing in the garden with the deceased girl and two other children.
It has not been revealed whether the grandmother admitted any involvement in the girl’s death, and the investigation is still in its early stages.
