Kirk Douglas, the legendary Hollywood figure, has reportedly bequeathed his entire $61 million fortune to charitable causes.

The acclaimed actor and father of Michael Douglas passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at the age of 103. His funeral took place two days later at the Westwood Memorial in Los Angeles.

According to the Mirror, Kirk allocated his full $60 million wealth to charity, neglecting to leave any inheritance to his son Michael, who already possesses a net worth of approximately $300 million.

The iconic Spartacus actor purportedly distributed his $61 million fortune by donating $50 million to be managed through the Douglas Foundation, which was established by Kirk and his wife, Anne. The foundation is dedicated to “assisting those who are unable to assist themselves”.

Among the recipients benefiting from Kirk’s $61 million fortune are St Lawrence University, where they sponsor a scholarship for minority and underprivileged students; Westwood’s Sinai Temple, home to the Kirk and Anne Douglas Childhood Center; Culver City’s Kirk Douglas Theatre, a refurbished movie theater now serving as a live performance venue, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Kirk, recognized for his philanthropy over the course of his life, is survived by his 100-year-old wife Anne, his children Michael Douglas, 75, Joel, and Peter, as well as seven grandchildren.
