The decision has been made to convert the hotel room previously occupied by Lionel Messi during his time in Qatar into a museum, shortly following the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup.
Reports from the Qatari news agency (QNA) have confirmed that the room, which Messi shared with his longtime friend and colleague Sergio Aguero towards the end of Argentina’s triumphant World Cup campaign, will no longer be available for regular guests. Instead, it will be transformed into a mini museum, housing some of Messi’s personal items for access by students and other visitors.
Hitmi al Hitmi, Director of communications and public relations at Qatar University, conveyed to Qatari newspaper Al Sharq, “The room of Argentina national team player Lionel Messi will remain unchanged and will remain available only for visitors and not for residence. Messi’s belongings will be a legacy for students and future generations, bearing witness to the great achievements Messi has reached during the World Cup.”
This initiative will serve as a tribute to Messi’s outstanding performance during the event and will provide an opportunity for the public to appreciate the items and memorabilia associated with his remarkable career.
