Reports suggest that US tech powerhouse Apple may be entering the race to purchase the Premier League club, Manchester United.
Earlier this week, United made a public statement confirming the intention to sell one of the world’s biggest football clubs.
According to the Daily Star, Apple, the world’s largest tech company, could be eyeing a potential acquisition of the club for £5.8 billion.
While Apple has not previously owned a major sports team, the allure of commercial opportunities offered by United is speculated to be a key factor driving their interest.
If the deal materializes, it would become the most expensive acquisition in football club history, surpassing the £4.25 billion purchase of Chelsea earlier this year led by a consortium headed by Todd Boehly.
CEO Cook is the latest high-profile figure expressing interest in taking control at Old Trafford.
Additionally, Twitter CEO Elon Musk has also shown keenness in assuming ownership of the club.
