James Nathaniel Brown is an actor, sports analyst, and former American football player. He played fullback for the National Football League Cleveland Browns from 1957 through 1965. Brown was named to the Pro Bowl every year of his career, three times as the Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player, and led the Browns to the NFL Championship in 1964. In eight of his nine seasons, he led the league in rushing yards, and by the time he retired, he had broken nearly every major rushing record. Basketball, track and field, and lacrosse were among his other sports where he excelled. His number 44 jersey was later retired by the football team. In 1995, he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame.
