Joe Manganiello, the American actor, has officially filed for divorce from his wife, actress Sofia Vergara.
Earlier this week, the former couple surprised fans by announcing their decision to separate after seven years of marriage.
In court documents obtained by DailyMail.com, the reason cited by the Magic Mike actor for the divorce was ‘irreconcilable differences’, with TMZ claiming that Joe desired to have children with the actress, who is already a mother to 31-year-old son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara.
Sofia and Joe have a $100 million prenup in place to protect the assets accumulated during their married years.
According to a source, Sofia has no intention of contesting the agreement, which he had signed before their November 2015 wedding.
Reportedly, Sofia boasts a net worth of $180 million compared to Joe’s $40 million.
He is represented by celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, known for working with personalities such as Kim Kardashian and Johnny Depp.
Both parties, it is said, will cover their own attorney’s fees.
The court documents did not mention who will benefit from the pair’s Beverly Hills home, which was re-listed in June for $18 million, less than two months before their announcement of the split.
