BIOGRAPHY
José Carlos Ruíz is an experienced Mexican film, television and theater actor with more than 50 years of experience. He studied at the Institute of Fine Arts, soon debuting in theater and working in several plays regularly. His film debut was with the film Black Wind (1965) by director Servando González, alongside Fernando Luján. Shortly after, he was part of the cast in the film El Escapulario (1968), working with actors such as Enrique Lizalde, Ofelia Guilmáin and Carlos Cardán. He caught the attention of soap opera producers, where his first participation was playing Benito Juárez, in El Carruaje (1972), a character for which the actor would be remembered in years to come. José Carlos Ruíz was nominated for the Ariel award on multiple occasions, winning the statuette for Vidas errantes (1985), Toña machetes (1985), Gotita, un dio para si mismo (1989), Dos Crimes (1994) and Almacenados (2015).
