BIOGRAPHY

Judy Garland was born in Minnesota, United States in 19922. She began working in the entertainment industry at an early age in the company of her sisters. Judy immediately stood out and signed a contract with the MGM production company in 1935. Pigskin Parade (1936) was the first film she made for this production company. In 1939 she made The Children of Showbiz (1939), which is one of more than 20 films in which she starred with actor Mickey Rooney. That same year she played the role that would make her a celebrity: Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz (1939). For both performances, Garland received an honorary Oscar for best youth performance .
