Stefan Sylvestre, who was sentenced to life in 2009 for an acid attack on Katie Piper, has gone missing while on parole since his release in 2018 at the age of 30. He now faces additional time in prison for absconding.

A spokesperson from the Probation Service stated that they are working urgently with the police to apprehend Sylvestre and return him to prison for an extended sentence.

Katie Piper, now 38, suffered severe injuries from the acid attack arranged by her ex-boyfriend Daniel Lynch and carried out by Stefan Sylvestre in 2008.

Daniel Lynch, who orchestrated the attack, is serving a life sentence with a minimum of 16 years for his involvement. He is not eligible for release until 2025.

The court described Lynch and Sylvestre as “the face of pure evil” during the sentencing.

Sylvestre, who was initially deemed unfit for release, was granted parole in 2018 with strict orders to stay away from Katie. After a series of legal and procedural issues, he was on the verge of being recalled to prison for violating his parole conditions when he absconded.

Katie Piper had to undergo extensive surgery and treatment for her injuries, and she has since become an advocate for burn victims, appearing on television shows and launching the Katie Piper Foundation.

In her victim impact statement, she described the attack as “an indescribable, unique, torturous pain” which led to the loss of her future, career, spirit, body, looks, and dignity.

In October 2019, she courageously shared a graphic photo of her injuries online, and she continues to inspire others by rebuilding her life and contributing to charitable efforts and burns services.
