Jurgen Klopp, the coach of Liverpool, has confirmed that he will depart from the club when his current contract ends in 2024, after which he plans to take a substantial break from football.

Having achieved success at German clubs Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund, Klopp led the Reds to their Premier League title this season, five years after taking over from Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.

He extended his contract with Liverpool in December 2019, committing to the club until 2024. He has now expressed his intention to fulfill his entire contract at Liverpool but does not foresee signing a new one and views 2024 as the ideal time to depart from Anfield.

After his ‘four years at Liverpool,’ he plans to take a year off to recharge and contemplate his next move, which could involve managing either a club or a national team, or possibly retiring.

 

 

‘Four years in Liverpool, then do nothing for a year,’ Klopp told SWR Sport regarding his future plans. ‘Maybe a club, a team, or nothing. But in five years, the world can look very different again.’

When asked about a potential return to Germany, Klopp stated that it was a possibility, but perhaps after retiring from management. ‘Definitely to live, after my career,’ he said. ‘Most likely even to Mainz [where he spent the majority of his playing career and started as a manager.
