The woman, Busola Oyediran, and her partner, Akebiara Emmanuel, have been brought before Chief Magistrate B.O. Osunsami of the Samuel Ilori Court, Ogbà by the Lagos state government. This is in connection with the alleged torture of the woman’s two underaged children in the Egbeda/Idimu area of Lagos State.
Following reports from neighbors about the children’s condition, the couple was arrested on January 13. Photographs of the children clearly showed marks and injuries on their bodies. As a result, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency released a statement indicating that the couple was arraigned on January 16, 2023, and the children have been placed under protective custody.
According to the statement, the Executive Secretary of DSVA, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, mentioned that the suspects were accused of maltreating the two children by using belts, canes, and a horsewhip to beat them. It was only after the intervention of a mandated reporter that the case was brought to the relevant authorities, leading to the arrest of the couple. The suspects appeared before Chief Magistrate B.O. Osunsami, at the Samuel Ilori Court, Ogba, on January 16, 2023, with the Directorate of Public Prosecutions now requesting the duplicate case file.
