The young woman was born as Laura McKeeman on October 2, 1988 in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA. Laura grew up fishing in ponds, so, in elementary school, she aspired to become a marine biologist. She told the Tampa Bay Times, “She was always pulling fish out of the gulf. She wanted to be a marine biologist all through elementary school.”
Later, when her family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, Laura became fascinated by geography and meteorology. After high school, she picked up another interest: dancing. She thought about attending ballet school, but then settled on the University of Florida, where she studied broadcast journalism. She worked at the school radio station while she was in college.
Laura Rutledge career
Laura began her sports journalist career at Fox Sports as a sideline reporter. She had later provided on-field reporting for Fox College Sports’ coverage of the 2012 NCPA Paintball National Championship in Lakeland, Florida. In the summer of 2014 she joined ESPN and the SEC Network.
Laura has hosted the Coors Light PostGame show on Fox College Football and has hosted the halftime lineup for FSN college football games.
