Santiago’s introduction to the hip hop industry came through a family friend who worked at the A&R division at Def Jam records. He subsequently became the vice president in 1996 and has held the position to the present day. The label is owned by rapper and producer Jay-Z. He also serves as the manager of Latino rapper Fabolous.

Outside of his executive role, Santiago has dabbled in acting, appearing in the movie “State Property” in 2002 and more recently as himself in the TV movie documentary “Jadakiss: The Last Kiss” in 2009. He has also worked behind the scenes as the cinematographer for the documentary “Backstage” and as the musical director and A&R rep for Jay-Z’s TV documentary “Jay-Z in Concert” in 2003. In February 2015, Santiago got engaged to his girlfriend of five years, Adrienne Bailon, a former member of the girl band “The Cheetah Girls”. However, the couple called it quits later that year in September. Santiago has also been married once prior to dating Bailon.
