Lil Pump is a famous rapper who burst into the limelight with his hit song Gucci Gang when he was just a teenager. He is also a songwriter and producer of mixed origins due to his parents being immigrants. Just like his predecessors like Cheif Keef and Gucci Mane, he has joined the new wave of young rappers who have a hardcore rap style and intimidating tattooed body markings. No doubt this is a lifestyle that Lil Pump embodies as his gangster image is easily recognizable in most of his pictures where he is seen with different types of firearms.
He is also known for promoting the use of the Xanax drug as a stress reliever or party elixir. His multi-colored dreadlocks are one thing that is clearly evident from the star as they add up nicely to his natural booty. Since he met producer and fellow rapper Smorkepurpp, his career has reached a whole new level with the release of several hits, with the most chart-toppers across the country. Read on to learn more about the prolific Soundclap rapper.
Who is Lil Pump?
Lil Pump, real name Gazzy Garcia, was born on August 17, 2000 in Miami, Florida. His parents are Colombian. His family moved to Florida shortly after his older brother was born in Colombia. After moving to the US, he and his family lived in Miami Gardens and he was heavily influenced by the rap songs he listened to. As a child, he listened to established artists like; Fredo Santana, Chief Keef and Lil B. By listening to his icons, he began honing his lyrical skills through freestyling.
His freestyling wasn’t initially a serious result of his rocky experience at some of the schools he enrolled in. He has been expelled from school a number of times for his gross misconduct. First he was expelled from “multiple district schools,” then he managed to attend another high school. When he was in tenth grade, he had an argument with a classmate who nagged him about Chief Keef’s loud music he played in class. His refusal to refuse resulted in her putting gum in his hair. This move caused Pump to beat her up, which in turn led to his being evicted again.
After these bad experiences, he began to take his rap more seriously. Despite using music as an escape route, he honed his freestyling skills to levels he never thought possible. At the age of 13, Garcia was introduced to Omar Pineiro, popularly known as Smokepurpp. After this meeting, Garcia and Smorkepurpp became good friends and frequent collaborators.
musical journey
Before fame, he worked hard to get his music out. In 2016, his debut single “Lil Pump” was produced and independently released to the public to stream on the SoundCloud website. Some of the follow-up songs released are “Elementary”, “Ignorant”, “Gang Shit” and “Drum $tick”. All these songs combined gave him over 3 million streams on SoundCloud alone.
The songs were quite successful enough to garner bragging rights as the “SoundClap Rapper”. This also increased his popularity in the South Florida underground rap scene. As his fame grew, he was billed as co-headlining the “No Jupiter” tour, and also landed an appearance at the Rolling Loud Festival in 2016 as well.
In 2017, Pump released the song “Gucci Gang,” which was an instant hit, peaking at number three on Billboard ‘s Hot 100. This made it his first-ever entry into the platform. His debut commercial album was released on October 6, 2017 and the album featured ace rappers and producers like; Smokepurpp, 2 Chainz, Chef Keef, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane and Lil Yachty. The single “I Shyne” ceased production from producer Carnage in January 2018. He later signed an $8 million contract with Warner Bros. on March 12, 2018.
Wealth (income and earnings)
For a young teenage rapper, Lil Pump can be said to be one of the richest rappers of his peers. Given that he was recently involved in an accident with his new Porsche and has occasionally flaunted a wad of cash on social media, it’s not far-fetched to think the artist is financially secure either. Well, that’s actually the case, as Lil Pump has an estimated net worth of $4 million, which is pretty impressive for a newcomer to the rap game.
family – parents
Usually celebrities beam their families for the whole world to see but this is not the case when it comes to Lil Pump as much information about his parents is not given. However, we do know that Lil Pump’s parents are immigrants. His father is originally from Cuba while his mother is originally from Mexico. They are also very religious hence the reason to stay away from the media and spotlight.
Moreso, as far as Lil Pump’s gangster image and hardcore lyrics go, it’s pretty understandable why his parents might not be comfortable dealing with such an image publicly.
Is he dead?
Social media was thrown into pandemonium when news of the rappers’ deaths circulated. This news came after recent premature deaths in the music industry, particularly among young up-and-coming rap artists, resulting from either violence or substance abuse. However, this news was quickly proven to be false as it was in fact Lil Peep (another equally young and talented rapper aged 21) who didn’t die Lil Pump.
Lip Peep, who died in 2017, is said to have overdosed on said drug Xanax; This prompted Lil Pump to release his New Year’s Resolution in early 2018, stating that he had stopped using Xanax as a stress reliever. Hopefully he sticks to that resolution.
