According to reports, unidentified gunmen targeted a supermarket in Rosario, Argentina, which is owned by the family of Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, March 2, with 14 shots fired at the doors of the store, causing significant damage. Two suspects reportedly fled the scene on a motorbike.
A piece of cardboard with a threatening message directed at Messi was found at the scene, implicating the mayor of Rosario, Pablo Javkin. The message read: “Messi, we are waiting for you. Javkin is a drug dealer. He is not going to look after you.”
Following the attack, Javkin called for increased resources to enhance security in Rosario, emphasizing the need to protect the city and its residents.
Both Messi and his wife were reportedly in Paris at the time of the incident and have not issued any statements regarding the attack. Messi, who recently won The Best FIFA Men’s Player award and led Argentina to victory in the 2022 World Cup, remains silent on the matter.
