BIOGRAPHY
Melanie Lynskey is a New Zealand actress, born on May 16, 1977, in New Plymouh, Taranaki, New Zealand. The eldest of five children, Melanie spent some time, in her adolescence, living in England, where she began to feel attracted to acting and upon returning to her native country, she became involved in the drama and theater club at New Plymouth Girl’s High. School. Her talent caught the casting director of a film that was about to be filmed in her country and that followed the true story of a murder perpetrated by two teenagers. Peter Jackson, the director, knew that he had found his protagonist in Melanie and soon she was filming and releasing her professional debut, at the age of 16, with the acclaimed film Heavenly Creatures (1994), a film recognized as emblematic in her country , nominated to the Academy Award in the category of best original screenplay and for which Melanie won the award for best actress at the New Zealand Film Awards. Although her career was on the rise, she took a couple of years to study at university, before returning to the big screen with feature films such as Detroit Rock City (1999) or Forget Me Not (2002). Shortly after, Melanie took on one of the roles for which she is best known, that of Rose, in the television comedy Two and a Half Men (2003-2015), where she participated in 63 episodes. In recent years, Lynskey has worked on series such as Castle Rock (2018), Yellowjackets (2021) and films such as I Don’t Fell at Home in This World Anymore (2017) and Don’t Look Up (2021), among others.
