More than 30,000 cars from Mercedes-Benz are being urgently recalled due to concerns about potential sunroof detachment and the ensuing crash risk.
The luxury carmaker has recalled certain models including C, CLK, CLS, and E Class manufactured between 2000 and 2010 after identifying the issue this week.
The recall notice stated, ‘The durability of the bonding between the sunroof glass panel and the sliding roof frame on some vehicles might not meet specifications and the glass panel may separate from the vehicle.’
‘If the glass panel separates from the vehicle, there is a risk of an accident resulting in injury or death of other road users.’
The company indicated that 30,105 affected vehicles were sold nationwide between January 3, 2000, and July 31, 2010, and urged owners to immediately contact their nearest Mercedes-Benz retailer.
‘Consumers are requested to contact their most convenient Mercedes-Benz retailer for a free inspection of their sunroof and any necessary repair,’ the recall notice emphasized.
