Mickey Madden Biography,

On May 13, 1979, somewhere in Austin, Texas, the music star who would be Mickey Madden was born. His family would later move to Los Angeles where he would attend Brentwood School. In high school, Madden fell in love with music and started playing bass guitar. His love for music quickly made him friends with fellow musicians and classmates Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael. In 1994, the boys added Ryan Dusick to form rock band Kara Flowers, named after a girl they all had a crush on.

Influenced by the works of Nirvana and PearlJam, Kara Flowers began performing around Los Angeles. One fateful day while playing on a beach in Malibu, they caught the eye of indie producer Tommy Allen. Allen would come to help seal a recording contract with Reprise Records.

However, success was not instantaneous for the boys as their debut album, The Fourth World, released in 1997, was a huge flop. She managed to sell barely 5,000 copies, after which the label dropped them after only 6 months of signing the contract. Devastated, the boys consider separating but remain close friends.

High school ended and while Carmichael and Levine went to Long Island to attend Five Towns College, Madden and Dusick stayed in LA and opted to attend UCLA. In 2001, the boys reunited and joined James Valentine as their guitarist formed the rock band Maroon 5. Their debut album was a hit and the men remained firm friends. Dusick who played drums left in 2006.

For years, Madden was an observant vegan. He is a strong supporter of Farm Sanctuary, an animal welfare organization.

Madden was arrested in early 2016 for cocaine possession alongside James Gubelmann, Ivanka Trump’s ex-boyfriend. However, all charges against him were dropped after he accepted a day of community service.
