BIOGRAPHY
Miguel Angel Silvestre was born on April 6, 1982 in Castellon de Plana, Spain. Launched into a tennis career, he injured his shoulder and was forced to abandon competition. The young man then became interested in theater and undertook an in-depth study of the performing arts (interpretation, bodily expression, modern dance and acrobatics). His first steps on the stage took place between 2002 and 2004. He obtained his first role in front of the cameras in the Spanish series My adorable neighbors for an episode in which he played a sports instructor.
In 2004, Miguel Angel became Nacho, a recurring character in the series Motivos personales , which propelled him to the forefront of the Spanish scene. Since 2005, he has had leading film roles in the films La Distancia , 3:19 and Zhao. The American director Bryan Goeres chose him to play two twins in The Mirror Effect , in 2008. If the film was not a success, Silvestre’s dual interpretation remained noted. The same year, he landed the role of El Duque in the Spanish series Sin tetas no hay paraiso , in which he played an ambitious drug trafficker capable of anything to achieve his ends. He stayed there for two seasons and obtained not only national recognition, but also a number of awards. The actor returns to global audiences with the secondary character of the fiancé in Les Amants Passagers by Pedro Almodovar in 2013.
Two decisive roles established his career on the international scene. The first is Alberto Marquez Navarro in Velvet . He plays the heir to a fashion empire, the Velvet galleries. The success was immediate and the show was broadcast in many countries – including France and the United States. The second is that of Lito Rodriguez in Sense8 , a phenomenon series created by the Wachowskis (authors of Matrix ) and produced by Netflix. He is one of the 8 heroes whose existences find themselves linked by a phenomenon that escapes them. A true star of Mexican cinema accustomed to slipping into the shoes of men overflowing with virility, his character is, in private, someone extremely sensitive, hiding his homosexuality so as not to damage his image among his fans.
