Mobb Deep has a net worth of
$10 Million

A Brief Look at Mobb Deep

Mobb Deep, comprised of Albert Johnson and Kejuan Muchita, also known as Prodigy and Havoc, is a renowned hip-hop and rap duo. Their popularity skyrocketed during the 90s and early 2000s with hit albums such as “The Infamous” and “Hell on Earth”, which are considered classics in the genre. Their music sales have played a significant role in amassing their reported net worth of $10 million.

Almost all of their wealth has been generated through their music career, which began in their teenage years. Despite encountering a few setbacks and failures, the duo gained notable recognition and financial success.

Mobb Deep’s Net Worth: $10 Million

Prodigy and Havoc crossed paths at the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan. Both hailing from Queens, New York, and born in 1974, they shared similar backgrounds. They initially adopted the name Poetical Prophets before evolving into Mobb Deep and releasing their debut album “Juvenile Hell”. Although the album didn’t receive a warm reception, their potential shone through each track. Soon after, they were signed by Loud Records and began working on their second album “The Infamous”. This album propelled the duo to stardom and solidified their presence in the hip-hop community. The standout track on the album, “Shook Ones Pt. II”, is considered one of the finest pieces of that era. In 1996, their third album titled “Hell on Earth” debuted at number six on the Billboard charts. Their subsequent album, “Murda Musik”, faced leaks on the internet leading to delays, but upon release, it claimed the third spot on the Billboard charts, eventually achieving platinum status. These releases contributed significantly to the duo’s net worth.

In 2003, Mobb Deep parted ways with Loud Records and joined Jive Records. Their experimentation with blending various music genres in their album “Amerikaz Nightmare” was not well-received, ultimately leading to their departure from the label. Many opined that the duo had lost touch and faded from memory. After a label-less year, they were signed by 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records. Their subsequent album “Blood Money”, released a year later, propelled them back into the hip-hop scene. With around 20 years in the industry, Mobb Deep’s net worth has continued to grow, even though the duo is currently on hiatus.

Little is known about the personal lives of the duo. The most publicized fact is Prodigy’s battle with sickle cell anemia, which has been a constant struggle throughout his life. Additionally, he served a three-year prison sentence from 2008 to 2011 for illegal possession of a firearm.

5Prodigy suffers from Sickle Cell Anemia. In 2002, Mobb Deep had to cancel an overseas tour because he was hospitalized after a bout with the disease. On the song “You Can Never Feel My Pain” from his solo album “H.N.I.C.”, Prodigy raps about his experiences with Sickle Cell, both in his childhood and adult life.
6In 2000, they filmed a movie titled after their fourth album, “Murda Muzik”, about gang life in Queensbridge. However, it has not yet been released (and probably never will be released) due to a lack of funding and promotion after their original label, Loud Records, shut down.
