BIOGRAPHY
Monica Barbaro dedicated herself to dance from an early age and later studied ballet. She completed a bachelor’s degree in dance at the Tisch School of the Arts while taking electives in acting. Ultimately, she decided to pursue acting instead of dancing. After graduating, she returned to California, where she pursued acting and studied at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. Her first major television role was playing the character Yael in the second season of the Lifetime television series UnREAL (2016). Later, Barbaro joined the cast as the lead in NBC’s new legal drama Chicago Justice (2017), and then played Cora Vasquez, a homicide detective in The Good Cop (2018), alongside Josh Groban and Tony Danza. We can currently see her in the role of Lieutenant Natasha ‘Phoenix’ Trace in Top Gun: Maverick (2022), the long-awaited sequel to the eighties classic.
