After losing custody battle with her ex, a mother from Florida, USA, named Brandy Hutchins allegedly ended her two children’s lives and then took her own in an apparent murder-suicide.
According to the Polk County sheriff, Brandy Hutchins was ordered to turn her son over to his father in Maine. However, she failed to comply and ultimately took this devastating step. Deputies were working to locate the boy, identified as Aiden Hutchins by his father, after the violation of the court order was reported.
The tragic discovery of the lifeless bodies of the children and their mother was made in a Lake Wales home. Sheriff Grady Judd expressed profound shock at the horrific nature of the incident during a press conference, emphasizing that there was no prior indication of violence from the mother.
“Brandy Hutchins… from every indication in our investigation now has murdered her 10-year-old child and her 19-year-old child — murdered them and then subsequent to that, she shot herself,” said Judd.
Furthermore, he noted that the 19-year-old girl had a different father and was not part of the custody battle. The boy’s father, devastated by the loss, confirmed the tragic news on social media after reporting his son missing.
“It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this to give everyone an update about my son Aiden Hutchins who was taken by his mother on August 25, 2023 who decided to murder him. He was killed by her today, August 27, 20203. He will forever be in my heart and did not deserve this,” the father wrote.
Sheriff Judd expressed deep sorrow for the family and emphasized the rarity of such violence in cases of court orders. He lamented the tragic loss, particularly highlighting the devastating impact on the innocent 10-year-old.
