Giovanni De Lorenzo, the captain of Napoli, has voiced his support for Victor Osimhen’s decision to travel to Marrakech, Morocco, on the eve of the team’s UEFA Champions League match against Braga.

Osimhen was in Marrakech on Monday to accept the Men’s Player of the Year award at the CAF Awards 2023.

The 24-year-old returned to Naples after the ceremony and was included in the starting line-up for the game against Braga at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The Nigerian international managed to score Napoli’s second goal of the night.

“Traveling doesn’t lead to tiredness, it was an important prize and it was right that he went to collect it,” Di Lorenzo expressed to Napoli Magazine.

“I’m interested in what he gives on the pitch and in training; no one has ever questioned his commitment and attitude. I’m happy that he’s back to scoring, it’s important for him.”
