Natalie Maria Cole was born on February 6, 1950, at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Los Angeles, to parents of American singer Nat King Cole and Maria Hawkins Ellington. Marvin started out as a member of an independent R&B vocal group in the 1970s, before being ordained as a Baptist minister. They divorced in 1980 and five years later Yancy died of a heart attack.
She would later marry AndréFisher, former drummer for the band Rufus and also a record producer, in 1989, ended in 1995. In 2001, she married her third husband, Bishop Kenneth Dupree. This union lasted only three years before the divorce in 2004.
Natalie Cole’s marriage to her first husband, Marvin Yancy was blessed with her son, Robert Adam Yancy, born in October 1977.
