The TV host Morayo Afolabi-Brown has been accused by Nigerian Lesbian woman, Moji Solar-Wilson, of using her platform to promote homophobia in Nigeria following a comment made on her show.
In a recent episode of Your View on TVC, Morayo discussed the challenges of parenting abroad. During the show, she shared a personal experience where she felt unattractive after an accident and started to think she was gay. She mentioned hanging out with the gay community and her brother noticing the changes in her and “beating the gayness out” of her.
Moji Solar-Wilson, an openly gay Nigerian woman who is married to her wife in the US, criticized Morayo’s comments on her Facebook page. She expressed concern that Morayo’s statement could incite more attacks on homosexuals in Nigeria. Moji emphasized that being gay is not something that can be beaten out of anyone and recounted her own struggles with attempting to change her sexual orientation through Christian prayers.
