A plea has been made by former Anambra State Governor Chief Willie Obiano’s aides to the incumbent, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to pay their severance packages.
This request was raised during a gathering in Awka on Sunday.
The aides expressed concern that no less than 42 appointees of the former Governor had passed away within two years of leaving office, without receiving their severance allowances. They appeal to Prof Chukwuma Soludo to facilitate the payment of their severance allowances.
It was reported that Obiano had previously made a similar call, emphasizing that the payment and appointment of some of his aides into Soludo’s government were part of the conditions under which Soludo was supported to succeed him.
At the event, the Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, a former political appointee under Obiano, encouraged the former aides not to despair but to trust in God, noting that even Governor Soludo was a former appointee of Obiano.
