Ensuring the security of Osun State residents is a top priority, and Governor Ademola Adeleke has given directives for the immediate establishment of a State Security Trust Fund.
To cater for the operational needs of security agencies, Adeleke has tasked a five-member committee with developing the operational framework for the fund.
This fund will follow a public-private partnership model and will work in close collaboration with corporate organizations, business communities, industrialists, and other key stakeholders.
A statement by the governor’s spokesman, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, mentioned that the committee will include members of the security services to provide solutions to the state’s security challenges.
Adeleke also acknowledged the diligence of security operatives in safeguarding lives and property in the state, and highlighted his recent discussions on a close partnership with the Inspector General of Police in Abuja.
Adeleke emphasized the importance of enhancing the protection of lives and properties and underscored the need to adequately equip and strengthen security services. He emphasized the commitment of his administration towards achieving a fully secured state to complement the ongoing reconstruction and recovery process in the state.
He stated, “The operational and logistics needs of our security agencies are significant. Thus, our best approach is a Public-Private Partnership arrangement through a State Security Trust Fund. We are seeking the involvement of the private sector. The implementation committee will soon unveil the operational details for the implementation of this policy.”
