During the ongoing recruitment process into the Constable Cadre of the Nigeria Police Force, the Police Service Commission has rejected a total of 84,606 applications.
In a statement on Sunday, the Commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, revealed that the Police Recruitment portal has received a total of 547,774 applications since its opening on October 15, 2023. The portal is set to close next Sunday, November 26, 2023.
Ani also highlighted that Kaduna State has the highest number of applicants with 40,272, while Anambra has the lowest with 1,664.
Out of the 547,774 applicants, 358,900 have successfully qualified for the next round of the recruitment process, which encompasses physical assessments, credential verifications, medical evaluations, and stringent background checks. The Commission has rejected 84,606 applicants for exceeding the age limit of 25 years.
Kaduna State remains at the top with 40,272 applicants, followed by Adamawa State with 36,398, and Bornu State with 32,048. On the other end, Anambra has 1,664 applicants, Ebonyi State has 2,132, and Lagos State has 2,324 applicants.
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase, expressed satisfaction with the high number of applications. He lauded the significant interest of Nigerian youths in pursuing a career in the Nigeria Police, considering it a positive sign for the “new Police we are building.”
Dr. Arase urged the youths in the South-East to shift their perspective on Police work and cautioned against affiliating with anti-government criminal groups. He emphasized the importance of nurturing terror-free communities for future development and assured that the recruitment process will prioritize merit and justice.
