Unsurprisingly, PSG are open to selling Mbappe at that staggering price, as the proposal also includes the potential for the forward to earn a remarkable €700m (£604m/$775m) salary for a year before potentially making a free transfer to Real Madrid next summer.
Mbappe had communicated to PSG his intention to fulfill his contract and depart as a free agent once the season concludes. However, AFP now reports that the Saudi Pro League club has been granted permission to engage in negotiations with him.
PSG has been making efforts to find a way to generate a transfer fee for Mbappe this summer, even contemplating the possibility of allowing him to leave on loan. Hence, it comes as no surprise that they have accepted a world-record bid for the World Cup victor.
Previously, PSG had informed the player that he must either accept a new contract — with a lucrative 10-year offer from the French club worth €1 billion (£864m/$1.1bn) on the table — or be sold during this transfer window.
Whether Mbappe will be willing to relocate to Saudi Arabia, even if it is just for a season, remains to be seen. It is clear that the success of the move is entirely reliant on the striker’s approval. He has consistently expressed his desire to move solely to Real Madrid.
Mbappe’s future is unlikely to be resolved in the near future, and it is highly probable that the Ligue 1 champions will receive more offers for the superstar this summer.
